Ranunculus are a beautiful spring plant  that are ruffly like a rose, but free of thorns! They grow about 18 inches tall and prefer sun to part shade, with well drained soil. One of my favorite spring flowers.

If planted in April, plants should bloom in late May through mid June, as long as temperatures don't rise too quickly. Once temperatures are consistently above 70 they begin to shut down and go dormant for the summer. The corms (tuberous roots) can be dug up and stored dry at room temperature for planting out the following spring, otherwise treat as an annual.
